The HI scoops DOTAX story

I'm proud to announce that we successfully scooped our larger competitors today on the exit of Department of Taxation head Kurt Kawafuchi. It was a while in the making -- Travis has been following the DOTAX story for several weeks. This afternoon, after a receiving an email tip, we broke the story on Twitter and on our website. We're the only news operation with a direct quote from Kawafuchi today.

The big question is, "why did Mr. Kawafuchi leave DOTAX?" We're exploring this question -- stay tuned.

We also covered the Land Use Commission today, which heard voluminous testimony on Castle & Cooke's Koa Ridge development and a proposed industrial landfill in Lualualei. Mahalo to James Funtanilla for covering the commission today. We'll publish his report soon.
