Speak Your Soul brings hip hop, spoken word to Hilo

Get ready for a night of poetry in Hilo on Wednesday, October 13. Three “Speak Your Soul” poets will feature that night as well as local hip-hop dance crew Shell Shock. The free event will be at the UH Hilo Campus Center from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The featured poets are Darron Cambra, Kimberly Dark, and Zach Street.

Speak Your Soul was founded in 2007 by Street to promote both Spoken Word poetry and the participation of every individual in the betterment of our world. The Speak Your Soul Tacoma Team currently hosts a regular open mic in Tacoma, Washington and Speak Your Soul: Hawaii Island now hosts regular open mics in Hilo. Speak Your Soul is currently partnering with several spoken word and community groups to expand the presence of spoken word.
