Meeting to discuss invasive species

Colleen Sanders

Hui O Koolaupoko’s May talk story meeting will be held on 5/19/2010 at:

146 Hekili Street, Room 202 from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

Discussion topic:

The Oahu Invasive Species Committee will the Coqui Frog and Miconia.  Miconia is an invasive tree that will destroy native forest if it is allowed to become established.  The song of the Coqui Frog is about the same intensity as a jack hammer.  The frogs have spread through the island like a slowly rising tide.  The are currently found in scatter location through out Oahu.  If they become established sleeping will become a nightmare.

Join us at this meeting to learn more about the Invasive Species Committee, their efforts in the Ko’olaupoko area and how you can get involved to control invasive species.
