Unite Here! Local 5 and Turtle Bay Resort Finalize Contract

Kahuku, Hawaii (Sept. 24, 2012) – A tentative settlement was reached tonight on a new contract covering workers at Turtle Bay Resort.  The union’s committee voted unanimously to recommend a “yes” vote.  Details of the agreement will not be released until after a full vote of the membership Friday.

Turtle Bay workers are represented by Unite Here Local 5.  Union negotiating committee members are happy with the agreement.

“This agreement goes a long way to bring Turtle Bay workers’ pay and benefits to a first-class level,” said George Cox, an employee at Turtle Bay.

“Our goal was to restore and protect good jobs in our community so current and future residents can work on the North Shore.  We took a step forward in this contract,” said Steven Dela Cruz another long time Turtle Bay employee.

The resort’s vice president and general manager Danna Holck said, “We are pleased with the outcome of our joint efforts. Mahalo to our resort owners and employees.  It’s time now to move forward and work together as the North Shore ‘ohana we have always been.”
