Peace starts here: 7th Annual GiRL FeST returns on November 10

Jamie Winpenny

The 7th Annual GiRL FeST Hawaii multimedia art festival and conference takes place November 10 to 16, offering a week of workshops, parties, music, poetry, comedy, and dance to “influence peer culture to prevent violence against women and girls through education, entertainment, and positive representation of women.”

In addition to insightful workshops for poetry, comedy, zine publishing, and textile design, GiRL FeST offers several concerts featuring local and national acts notable for their support of social causes. Black Square, Hell Caminos, Carly Smith, and Shopping list are among the bands that have made commitments to Girlfest.
