Kalihi-Palama Neighborhood Board discusses Aala Park skate facility
Honolulu Police Department and Honolulu Fire Department statistics for the month of August were discussed at the September 15 meeting of the Kalihi-Palama Neighborhood Board. As Kalihi-Palama comprises parts of HPD Districts 1 and 5, stats for both were reported. A total of 26 assaults, 5 DUIs, and three sex offenses were among hundreds of HPD responses. HPD noted a rise in motor vehicle thefts and a decrease in motor vehicle collisions. HFD responded to nine fires and 109 medical emergencies.
Also discussed was a proposed addition to the skate facility at Aala Park. A local business came forward with an offer of fundraising support. The City and County of Honolulu has no plans for expansion at the facility, but does support such a project if funding comes from the private sector. Minutes for the September 15 meeting are available here.
