HPD announces more City parks and facilities closures for APEC security

HONOLULU—The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is advising the public of temporary park closures and restrictions during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in November.  The restrictions are part of the APEC security requirements. Dates and times vary. 

Ala Moana Regional Park
10:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 to 10:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14
The Magic Island parking lot and the ewa half of Ala Moana Park will be closed to the public. In addition, only emergency response vehicles will be allowed in Ala Moana Park; civilian vehicles will not be allowed to enter. There will be no public parking along Ala Moana Boulevard fronting the park.  Pedestrians may walk to the park and beach and use the areas not designated for emergency response agencies. 

Ala Wai Community Park
Midnight on Monday, November 7 to midnight on Monday, November 14
The Ala Wai Community Center, including the parking lot, restrooms, canoe hale, and areas up to the baseball field fence, will be closed to the public. Baseball and soccer fields will be open and accessible from the Koko Head side of the park. 

Kapiolani Regional Park
Midnight on Monday, October 31 to midnight on Monday, November 14
All parking lots on Monsarrat Avenue, including Waikiki Shell lots 1, 2, 3, and 4, and Paki/Monsarrat lot will be closed to the public. Soccer fields 4 and 5, along with picnic area 3, will also be closed. All other areas of the park will be open to the public. 

Ala Wai Golf Course Ballroom
6:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15
The Diamond Head Ballroom will be closed to the public.  The golf course and clubhouse will remain open.

Kamokila Community Park
Midnight on Saturday, November 12 to midnight on Monday, November 14
The park and parking areas will be closed to the public.
