A dollar can actually buy quite a bit

Hawaii is the second most expensive place in the US, according to a piece by The Takeaway (audio below). Housing and other goods are affordable in other areas, but “all that’s impossible” according to a caller named Barbara from Honolulu.

Not true, however: a dollar will buy you a prime spot on Mauna Kea or a 65-year lease to Makua Valley. Surely that’s a fair price.
