HONOLULU—The River Street Block Party in Chinatown happens this Saturday and will feature food, live entertainment, arts, crafts, and more.

The all-day party goes down Saturday, August 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. along the Nuuanu River on Sun Yat-sen Mall, College Walk, and Kukui Street.

A lion dance will launch the festivities at 10:15 a.m. Hawaiian warriors will chant before lighting torches and woks of fire in the river at 7:00 p.m. Dancing under the stars will follow.

The event is co-sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu and the Friends of Chinatown.

An art mural project is being planned along the river, and everyone is invited to share their suggestions and sketch ideas. Free sketchpads will be given away while supplies last, beginning at 10:45 a.m.
