WAIMANALO—The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Facility Maintenance, in conjunction with the Department of Emergency Management, will be testing Outdoor Siren Warning Systems at Hanauma Bay and Makapuu Beach Park today from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The tests are being conducted to ensure that these sirens are operating at full power and providing optimal range.

Residents and businesses in the surrounding communities may hear several 20-second siren soundings during the testing periods.

Hawaii State Civil Defense funds the purchase and installation of these sirens. Once installed they are released to the City for monthly testing and emergency activation.
