Waipio All-Stars Little League team wins national title in a blowout
Donations being accepted for team's travel costs
HONOLULU—The Waipio All-Stars Little League team came up on top in the U.S. Little League Championship this morning. The Hawaii team beat Texas in a blowout 10 to 0, ending the match via the 10-win rule.
Waipio will play the International Champion Japan team on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Hawaii time for the 2010 Little League World Series title.
Support the Waipio players’ families and coaches in recouping some of the cost involved in playing in this year’s Little League World Series.
The team, accompanied by a loyal contingent of family and supporters, has been on the road since August 4. Families are reported to have incurred expenses for travel, accommodations, and meals in excess of $10,000 per player.
Tax deductible donations may be sent to the Hawaii Children’s Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. All contributions will go to the Waipio team. Checks should be made out to the Hawaii Children’s Foundation. Indicate on the check that the donation is for the Waipio All-Stars Little League Team.
