Hawaii Safe Routes to School Hui hosts a Keiki Poster Contest in honor of Bike Month

Hawaii Independent Staff

Calling all school-age children across the state of Hawaii! May is Bike Month, and the Hawaii Safe Routes to School Hui is inviting public, private, or home-schooled kindergarten through 12th-grade students to take part in in the Safe Routes to School Poster Contest. This year’s theme is “Make it Safe for Me” to ride my bike. Participants are posed the question: “Imagine what it would be like to ride your bike safely to school, the store, or to your friend’s home—what would it look like? What kind of changes need to occur for you to feel safer riding your bike?”

The Hawaii Safe Routes to School Hui is a statewide coalition of bicycle and pedestrian advocacy groups that are working to make Hawaii safer to ride a bike or walk to and from school. Hui partners include PATH: Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii, the Hawaii Bicycling League, Kauai Path, Hawaii Pedal Power, and the Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalition.
