Palama Adopt-A-Block/Stream Cleanup this Saturday, June 26

Hawaii Independent Staff

The Department of Environmental Services’ Storm Water Quality Branch is conducting an Adopt-A-Block cleanup on Saturday, June 26, in Palama.

The cleanup runs from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. covering numerous streets in the Palama area. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. at the following locations: Banyan Courtyard, HonBlue, and Akepo Lane.

The Department of Environmental Services—partnering with numerous agencies, businesses, churches, and public officials—will provide supplies. Volunteers should bring water, a hat, old shoes, sunscreen, and dress to get dirty.

The event intends to create awareness of non-point source pollution and water quality issues; provide information on protecting our waters to specific audiences; encourage partnerships between citizens and local government; and motivate positive behavioral change to keep streams healthy.

Volunteers must sign a release form at check-in.
