The Workshop
• A new 21st-century state-of-the-art Mike Curb MELE studio—a major asset for the HCC program that will become a longterm gathering place for the music community.
• The Participants Song Showcase, which was a big success last year, will be offering a prize for this year’s winner—all expenses paid to a national song showcase, with demo time in the MELE studio.
• Among this year’s invited professionals are Carrie Underwood’s multi-platinum producer, Mark Bright; Hall of Fame songwriter Bob DiPiero, who has 15 Number 1 singles; and Kyle Jacobs, writer of Garth Brooks’s “More Than a Memory,” the only country single ever to debut at Number 1 on the Billboard charts.
• This follows major recognition for songwriters who kick-started last year’s inaugural workshop: Craig Wiseman, who has been voted ASCAP country songwriter of the decade; Ruby Amanfu, whose CD “The Here And The Now” was named in Associated Press’s Top 10 albums for 2009; and Andy Dodd and Adam Watts, who wrote the big farewell single for the final episode of Hannah Montana.
• Session by session, panel by panel, the 2010 workshop offers enrichment across the board how to maximize your creativity in the 21st-century music business, from the craft of songwriting to the best use of technology and new ways of building relationships and connections.
