Kauai schools closed due to rain, flooding

Due to the severe inclement weather forecast for North and East Kauai, closure of the Hanalei Bridge and a section of Kuhio Highway at the 22.5 mile marker, the following schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 6: 

Hanalei School
Kilauea School
Kapaa High School
Kapaa Middle School
Kapaa Elementary School    

School bus transportation service from Wailua Bridge to Hanalei WILL NOT be provided and WILL NOT be operating for students residing in Wailua who attend King Kaumuali’i Elementary.

At this time all other DOE schools on Kauai will be open.  The DOE will continue to closely monitor the weather situation. (Another press release will be issued in the morning, only if additional schools need to be closed.)

All other public and charter schools are open.
