Kauai County’s new trash site is the same as the old site

Last week, Kauai Mayor Bernard Carvalho ended a nine-month fight over a proposed landfill—Kauai County was trying to seize land near Kalaheo.

Got Windmills? blogger Andy Parx has some words about the County’s new (old) choice, the Maalo Road site on the way up to Wailua falls:

“But really most likely the lack of opposition [to the Maalo Road site] is simply due to the decades of stumbling and bumbling by three administrations through a half-a-dozen proposed sites making us just plain tired of hearing about it.

Dig the freakin’ hole, throw all the crap in and shut up and be done with it. After all, that’s how Kauai has treated our opala problems for over a century now—why should this time be any different?”
