Kathryn Matayoshi selected to head Hawaii’s Department of Education

Acting and interim Hawaii schools superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi, who guided the state Department of Education through its successful bid for $75 million in the Race to the Top competition was selected yesterday as the permanent head of Hawaii’s public schools.

The Star-Advertiser’s Mary Vorsino reports that Matayoshi was among 24 applicants, but was the only one interviewed.
