Downtown Neighborhood Board endorses planned Chinatown restaurant

The Downtown Neighborhood Board met on Thursday, November 4. The Honolulu Police Department’s Lt. Walter Ozeki reported response statistics, which included 14 assaults, 89 motor vehicle collisions, seven drug offenses, five sexual assaults, and 12 DUI offenses. HPD also stated that not all of its surveillance cameras were operational, but that repairs were being made. It was noted that increased police patrols at the parking lot near Ducs Market on Mauna Kea has been requested.

Gerald Chun reported that he plans to open the Lotus Downtown Japanese Cuisine and Sake Bar on Hotel Street. PYNK Salon and The Manifest will neighbor the establishment. Chun said he does not plan to seek a cabaret license, and that the venue will include live jazz entertainment. The Board voted unanimously to endorse the planned establishment. The Board also voted to endorse a plan for expansion at the Queen’s Medical Center.
