Journalist murders in Mexico have hit a new record

According to a tally last year by El Universal, Mexico’s top-selling newspaper, a dozen reporters, photographers, editors and radio hosts have been slain in 2009—two more than in the previous worst year of 2006. The deaths—all Mexicans working for local media—make the country the most dangerous for the trade in the Western hemisphere.
