January 25: Free round-table discussion on climate change

Robert Guild, Director for Pacific Strategy and Special Operations at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), will address climate change adaptation in the Pacific at a free public round-table discussion on Tuesday, January 25 at the East-West Center.

The presentation will be held from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Center’s John Burns Hall (1601 East-West Road), Room 3012, and will be followed by an informal discussion on careers at the ADB with the director of the bank’s Pacific Sector Operations.

Guild oversees ADB programming, technical assistance, finance of investments, and policy advice across the Pacific region. He also serves as the ADB Pacific Department Director for Transport, Energy, and Natural Resources. He is an expert on infrastructure investment for social and economic development, and has advised governments, the private sector, and multilateral institutions in Latin America, Asia, and the Pacific on public investments and national and regional development plans.

Prior to joining the ADB, Guild led the economic infrastructure program at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, an intergovernmental organization of the 14 independent island nations of the Pacific region, based in Suva, Fiji. He has taught at universities in the United States, New Zealand, and the Pacific region and holds degrees in civil engineering, public administration, urban and regional planning, and international planning and development. He started his career in the Pacific as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Solomon Islands.
