Iolani Palace to host panel discussion on Princess Kaiulani film
The film Princess Kaiulani will be the topic of a discussion on Friday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kanaina Building (Old Archives) on the Iolani Palace grounds.
The Friends of Iolani Palace will be hosting a panel discussion with the film’s producers Jeffery Au and Ricardo Galindez, who will be presenting film clips of local actors talking about their experiences working on the film.
The panel also includes Hawaii film historian DeSoto Brown, who will discuss how this film compares to other films about Hawaii and freelance historical researcher Nanette Napoleon, who will talk about what is fact and what is fiction in the film “Princess Kaiulani.” In addition, Blaine Kamalani Kia and Sonny Kalua will sing the song “Lei No Kaiulani,” which is featured in the film and Leo Anderson Akana will talk about her role as Queen Liliuokalani. The panel discussion will be moderated by freelance writer Wanda Adams.
