WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a $2,850,161 grant for improvements to Hilo International Airport on the Island of Hawaii.

This grant, awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration, will provide funding to continue improvements at Hilo International Airport’s terminal building, notably, replacing four existing passenger loading bridges (more commonly known as jetways) that are 18-years-old and have outlived their useful operational life.

There are a total of seven jetways at Hilo International Airport. The remaining three passenger loading bridges have been recently replaced.
