HONOLULU—A group of Hawaii teens will be attending the 5th World Youth Congress in Istanbul, Turkey. The Congress will bring together 700 youths from all over the world to discuss the UN Millennium Development Goals. This concept of youth-led development is central to the World Youth Congress series.

$40 pre-sale, $45 at the door. Tickets can be pre-purchased by contacting Sara Ortiz at (808) 779-4831.

Mediterranean food by Good and Healthy Café will be served. A no-host bar will be available, and live music will be provided, including Vaea Roots and the Lovely Sounds.

The World Youth Congress was born in 1999 in Honolulu, entitled the Millennium Young People’s Congress. Since that first Congress, subsequent congresses have taken place in Morocco, Scotland, and Quebec City, Canada. Through a strong cultural program, youth-led workshops, debates, educator’s programs, and action projects, youth activists have the opportunity to share their experiences and stories and learn ways to address the needs of their community and their world.
