Hawaii elections office sets May 22 as date for Congressional special election

The State Office of Elections issued the proclamation officially setting May 22 as the day for the special election to fill the unexpired term of the First Congressional District seat vacated by former Congressman Neil Abercrombie.

All voted mail ballots must be received by 6:00 p.m. on Election Day.

An absentee polling place will be established for voters at the Office of the City Clerk, Honolulu Hale, 530 S. King St., Honolulu, Hawaii 96813 on Monday, May 10 until Thursday, May 20 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Candidates for the unexpired term may file nomination papers from Wednesday, March 3 until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17 when the nomination filing period closes.

Nomination papers are available at the Office of Elections, 802, Lehua Avenue, Pearl City, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with the exception of Furlough Fridays, and at the Offices of the County Clerk, respectively on Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii Island Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
