August 14: Free end-of-summer poetry slam at Chinatown’s ARTS at Mark’s Garage

Youth Speaks has a final summer message for Hawaii’s students: “School will soon be back in session. ... Break the rules before there are any.”

Youth Speaks Hawaii’s “Second Saturdays” poetry slam and open mic happens this Saturday in Honolulu’s historic Chinatown. Youth Speak’s own writing workshop all star Samson Tafolo is set to perform.

2010 Hawaii Slam champion Sterling Higa and DJ.akob will be hosting the festivities.

The “Old School New School Too Cool for School Break the Rules Poetry Slam” is free and will also feature an “anything goes” open mic opportunity. All ages welcome.
