Anti sex-trafficking bill to be scheduled for hearing

HONOLULU—A bill that establishes class A and B felony sex trafficking offenses and prosecution provisions will be heard by the State House Committee on Human Services.

The hearing has been tentatively scheduled for Thursday, February 17 at 10:00 a.m. in State Capitol Conference Room 329. An informational meeting will be at 9:00 a.m.

Under House Bill 576, a person commits the offense of sex trafficking in the first degree if the person knowingly (a) Advances or profits from the prostitution of an individual who is less than eighteen years of age; or (b) Advances the prostitution of an individual through situations such as kidnapping, extortion, unlawful imprisonment, and drugging.
