The Ala Moana/Kakaako Neighborhood Board held a meeting on Tuesday, September 28 at Makiki Christian Church. Member David Hilea Jr. tendered his resignation from the Board at the meeting.

City Councilmember Ann Kobayashi attended, as well as representatives from HPD, HFD, the Honolulu Rail Project, and the Honolulu Mayor’s Office. HFD responses statistics for the area included five structure and five rubbish fires. HPD response statistics included 22 assaults, 42 DUI offenses, and 183 motor vehicle collisions. Board Chair Larry Hurst noted that the statistics for the area indicate more incidents that occurred on the entire North Shore.

Area residents expressed concern over an increase in derelict vehicles along Queen Street, an area run by the Hawaii Community Development Association. The meeting minutes have been made available here.
