HONOLULU—In commemoration of Black History Month in February, the African American Diversity Cultural Center Hawaii (AADCCH) is sponsoring an educational exhibition in the courtyard of Honolulu Hale from February 1 to 17.

AADCCH was established as a repository to archive, document, collect, preserve, maintain, and display 200 years of Black history in Hawaii and provide the community with a better understanding about its cultural heritage.

The Black History Month exhibition will feature cultural artifacts and displays about the accomplishments and contributions Africans and African Americans have made in Hawaii.

Exhibit viewing is free and open to the public. The exhibit is supported by the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts. This is the fourth consecutive year the exhibition is being held in Honolulu Hale to commemorate Black History Month.

Exhibit hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for furlough days and holidays. Due to City furloughs, Honolulu Hale will be closed on February 11, 2011.
