Over 92,000 classified Afghanistan War documents obtained and leaked by WikiLeaks were given weeks in advance to three publications: the Guardian newspaper in London, the magazine Der Spiegel in Germany, and the New York Times. The documents point to active support of the Taliban and the Afghan insurgency by Pakistan and Iran, civilian casualties by U.S. forces, and the use of elaborate ground-to-air weapons against the United States. The three publications coordinated the release of their reports on the documents Sunday.
