PEARL CITY—The Fifth Annual American Institute of Architects Honolulu Canstruction competition has arrived and has officially began this week. Teams of local architects and allied professionals will gather at Pearlridge Shopping Mall Uptown Phase Center Court to “canstruct” giant structures made entirely of thousands of cans of food.

The completed structures will be up for display through Sunday, October 3, and anyone can vote for their favorites. All money and can donations are going toward feeding the Hawaii’s hungry. After the competition, the displays will be de-Canstructed for delivery to the Hawaii Foodbank.
