September 18: Waikiki Aquarium to host inaugural literacy event

Expect storytellers, costumed characters, and mythological creatures

Reading is fun, but it can be cute and cuddly, too. The Waikiki Aquarium will host its inaugural event, “Fish Tales: Chronicles, Critters and Crafts at the Waikiki Aquarium,” which offers a whale of a tale of activities, storytelling, and mythological creatures from under the sea. Celebrity storytellers will read from popular books about the ocean and its underwater creatures while costumed characters entertain on the lawn. Keiki activities will also include arts and crafts, storytelling, and creative movement.

Event participation will be included in daily admission. Daily admission is $9 for visitors; $6 for local residents, active duty military with ID, students with ID, and senior citizens; $4 for youths ages 13-17 and persons with disabilities; $2 for juniors ages 5 - 12; and free for children 4 and under and Friends of Waikiki Aquarium members.
