5 Hawaii high schools honored by PBS Hawaii

Five public high schools participating in PBS Hawaii’s statewide student news network have received awards for outstanding work produced during Season One of HIKI NŌ. About 250 students, teachers and supporters attended the Saturday, September 10 event that concluded a day-long training conference to prepare participants for HIKI NŌ‘s fall season.

The schools that received awards were Kealakehe High School, Waianae High School, Moanalua High School, Baldwin High, and McKinley High School. Award categories included Best Anchor Team, Excellence in Production, and Best Newswriting.

To date, sixty three public, private and charter schools are participating Season Two of HIKI NŌ, which makes its primetime debut on Thursday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m.
