4,000 UH Manoa students move into their dorms this week, expect traffic

MANOA—Expect traffic delays this week around the University of Hawaii at Manoa as nearly four thousand students make the move into campus residence halls.

The UH Student Housing Services office announced a traffic alert for the three-day Manoa Move-In 2010, scheduled for Tuesday, August 17 through Friday, August 20, which is a State holiday (Admissions Day). The moving-in process for UH Manoa students living in campus residence halls and apartments will start at 9:00 a.m. on all three days, and may affect traffic on Dole Street and University Avenue.

Motorists are advised to be especially vigilant along Dole Street due to the increased traffic activity, and frequent stopping or slowing of cars.

On Tuesday, August 17, students moving into Hale Aloha (Ilima, Lehua, Lokelani, and Mokihana), Johnson Hall, Hale Anuenue, Hale Kahawai, and Hale Laulima and freshmen moving into Frear Hall and Gateway House will be queued along Lower Campus Road. Residents will not be allowed to unload along Dole Street.

Also on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the east-bound lane of Dole Street fronting residence halls will be coned off to assist with active unloading. No parking will be allowed along Dole Street during moving hours.

On Thursday, August 19, residents checking into Frear Hall and Gateway House will be queued along Lower Campus Road. Residents will not be allowed to unload along Dole Street.

On Friday, August 20, residents of Hale Noelani and Hale Wainani apartments will move in.
