In this first installation of the Polyfantastica saga, Honua's single massive land continent, Motunui, is beset by a pan-epidemic biological disaster. Fleets of ships flee into the vastness of Moananui. They wash up months later on many thousands of islands, over the course of a year, full of nothing but petrified corpses.
