Ed Lane is a freelance journalist who has covered crime in Alabama and Texas, energy issues in Washington and New York and worked abroad as a correspondent in New Zealand and South Asia for the past 15 years. His work includes covering an Elvis look-alike booted from the Alamo by Texas Rangers in 1992, tit-for-tat nuclear tests by India and Pakistan in May 1998 and the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004. He lives on the edge of Chinatown in Honolulu with his wife Lalrambeiseii Hmar and son Pablo who all enjoy dim sum at Mei Sum.
