The aloha of Hawaii residents is manifested in extraordinary structures of canned goods at Pearlridge Center’s Uptown Center Court. The structures were part of the Fourth Annual American Institute of Architects Honolulu Canstruction competition. On August 30, the cans, all donated, will be distributed to Hawaii’s hungry families. The Canstruction competition entries will remain on display through August 29.

New this year to Canstruction, Kraft Foods will host Mac-Struction on Saturday, August 22. Members of the Keiki Club between the ages of 6 and 12 will be asked to put their creative skills to the test and build a structure using 50 boxes of KRAFT Macaroni & Cheese—the winner getting a Cheesasaurus Rex Birthday Party.

At the close of the exhibitions all of the canned food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for distribution to emergency feeding programs that include pantries, soup kitchens, elderly and day care centers.
