Smoking in bars: House Committees to hear bill

The House Consumer Protection & Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Robert N. Herkes and the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jon Riki Karamatsu will hear a bill related to smoking on Tuesday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Hawaii State Capitol, Conference Room 325. The bill proposes to allow smoking in bars, with proceeds to go towards organ donor education.

HB 2691 RELATING TO SMOKING - Introduced by Rep. Jon Riki Karamatsu D-41 (Waikele, Royal Kunia, Village Park, Waipahu)
Allows smoking in properly permitted liquor establishments not to include restaurants.  Requires collection of smoking establishment permit fee with proceeds to go towards organ donation education.
