House Judiciary Committee to hear bills legalizing gaming

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jon Riki Karamatsu will hear bills related to gaming on Tuesday, February 9 at 2:30 p.m. at Hawaii State Capitol, Conference Room 325.

HB 2759 HD1 RELATING TO GAMING - Introduced by Representative Mele Carroll
Authorizes the Hawaiian Homes Commission to allow gaming on Hawaiian Home Lands and to designate specific Hawaiian Home Lands parcels for the purposes of establishing casino gaming operations.  Imposes a wagering tax on gross receipts of casino gaming operations and provides for distribution to the general fund and Hawaiian Homes Lands Trust Fund.

Proposes to add a new section to article XVI of the state constitution to permit gambling in the State, in accordance with law.
